Apparently there's a pic of me as a kid with a little red book of Mao in my hands. My only regret is that my parents watered it all down and became democrats. Staying revolutionary is a damn hard thing to do...at least in a conservative ass country like the United States. My children will most likely be black organic cloth diaper babies of a mixed radical vs. petty burgeouis heritage. Go figure.

Re: I'm actually a 2nd generation red diaper baby...
Wed, June 14, 2006 - 9:18 AMHi David,
I'm just reading your post for the first time, but I am also an actual 2nd generation red-diaper baby. My grandparents were in the communist party in the 1950's. I went to pancake breakfasts at Gus Hall's house when I was a little kid. My grandparents met at a union rally in the 1930's. My grandmother was making a speech and my grandfather fell in love with her at first site. My mother still has trauma for the harrassment her family faced when she was a child. Progressive politics have remained in my family and I think revolution may be making a serious comeback with all that is happening in this country...even since you posted your original message 2 years ago.
